I filed my taxes in February and am still waiting for my refund. Is there any way to check on it?
That question is on a lot of people's minds right now. They've filed their taxes and want their money as soon as possible.
Refunds usually are issued six to eight weeks after the IRS receives your return. You'll get a refund in about 10 days if you file electronically. If you haven't gotten your refund, there could have been a mistake on your return -- for example, a missing social security number or math error.
The IRS Web site has a great tool that can help you track the status of your refund check. You just need to type in your social security number, filing status and the refund amount due to you. The IRS then lets you know if your check has been processed yet.
By the way, one big reason for delayed and missing refunds is when people move after filing their taxes. If you don't notify the IRS of a change of address, your check might not make it to you. If that happens to you, be sure to send the IRS a change-of-address form.
