Buying. Make dealers bid for your business. You tell us the make, model and style of car you want to buy and CarBargains will shop at least five dealers in your area. You receive a report with a copy of each bid and the name of a contact at the dealership. The service costs $190, but the potential savings are much greater.

Leasing. There’s a similar service for leasing, called LeaseWise. Supply the vehicle, lease term and annual mileage you want and the service solicits bids from at least five dealers in your area. You get all the numbers you need to easily compare the often-confusing details of leases. Cost: $335.

Latest incentives. You can also order the latest issue of CarDeals, a newsletter that lists current rebate, dealer incentives and low-rate financing deals available nationwide. The cost is $7 per issue.
